US Marriage Statistics: Failure Rates & Trends - Reliable Data

My name is Sheridan - I'm writing a report on the phenomenon of marriage and I'm trying to find out a number of statistics from a reliable source. Can you help please?

I need to find out:

* What percentage of marriages fail in the US?

* What percentage of marriages fail within the first year?

If you can help me find these stats backed up by the name of the source,
I would be SO grateful.

Hi Sheridan~

I don't know of any website to back it up on the statistics part.  But the answers are the 50% of marriages fail.  And the second answer is up to 50% of marriage fail in the first year.  That is according to Dr. Phil.  You may be able to find some statistics on this website at drphil.com.
