Stepchildren After Remarriage: Legal Status and Considerations

my husband has been divorced from his previous wife for 27 years.  We have been together for 23 years.  His previous wife had been married with 3 children who were his stepchildren.  The stepchildren are 40-45 years old.  Now that we are married, are those children still considered his stepchildren?

Answer
I would say yes, whether he formally adopted them or not. If you are asking because of preparation of a will or trust, I would suggest getting it taken care of while your husband is still alive. Conceivably they could challenge anything that they have been left out of. Mentioning them even in a small fashion would alleviate future problems.
