QuestionHi,
My husband may have rosacea, his skin is very red when he drinks alcohol or when temperature changes and most moisturisers make his skin sore and redder!
Can you recommend a face wash to use in shower, a moisuriser, and sunscreen.
Also he wears foundation on worst affected parts of face when out in public but has trouble getting the colour right, one normally matches foundation to skin colour!Any advice on foundation brands and colour for him?
Thank you,
Caprice
AnswerHello Caprice,
Has your husband ever had his face frozen or half frozen when exposed to a freezing wind or something similar or burned?
I would recommend your husband to stay away from any skin care that contains alcohol as it dries the skin and would make the condition worse. I would also recommend him to clean his face with Orange Blossom floral water and not apply hot water on his face.
As far as moisturizer, I would suggest something with Wild Musk Rose oil or even pure Wild Musk Rose oil as a night treatment. In the cold season, switch to something with organic Shea butter. You should also consider finding him a good facial mask, very soothing and balancing (stay away from essential oil as they could trigger inflammation)
It's very hard for me to pick a color for him, but I would suggest to look (and try) at Dr Hauschka and Lavera foundations and powders.
I would also recommend you to work with a good acupuncturist (preferably a 5 elements acupuncturist, disciple of Dr Worsley) as your husband's condition involves something like "too much heat in the head" which cannot be treated by any medication.
I hope you find this answer helpful.

Hello again,
I thought of you this weekend and decided that I should give you another option for a cleanser for your husband. You may want to get something similar to this:

As there are many different variations of rosacea, it would actually be helpful for me to know the exact dermatologic diagnosis to help your husband better. If the problem persists, do not hesitate to go visit a good and experienced dermatologist.
