Identifying Antique Rings: Understanding Gold Markings & Emerald Cuts
Question
front of ring
Hello, I purchased a ring from a auction is is stamped 10k gold on the inside, but it also has to stamps that look like a circle except flat on top with what looks like a + inside the circle, and the other one is almost th same except at the bottom of the + there are two more / . I was wondering the ring is antique with large clear emerald cut clear stone on top maybe 4 karats, any Ideas?
AnswerHello Pamela and thank you for your inquiry. The other markings inside your ring could pertain to the 10K mark indicating country of assay. I have included a link below on general hallmarks that may be of some help to you. As far as the stone - if you believe it is genuine, you should have it checked by a professional appraiser/jeweler. Vintage rings of low karat gold sometimes were set with beautiful stones. Hope this helps and enjoy your ring !
