Rare Vintage Japanese Lion Charm with Whistle - Detailed & Unique

This little lion charm was given to me by a friend and he tells me it's very old. It's a soft gold color with a slightly rose gold cast. Highly detailed and sweet. What's interesting is that the bottom is also a whistle! There's a wheel inside that moves when you blow into the base and it turns creating a kazoo like whistle sound. The entire piece has some weight to it. I've researched online but can't find any info at all. The one side says JAPAN and the other has a K in a diamond shape, no other markings. The fact that it says Japan makes me think it's not that old though.

Are you able to tell me anything about it at all and if it has any value, other than sentimental?

Hello Cat and thank you for your inquiry. Your charms sounds quite unique ! I assume it i goldtone and not karat gold since you mentioned no markings. It would be difficult to track a Japanese manufacturer but charms are very collectible. Your charm would appeal to whistle collectors as well as charms.  You might check some of the online auctions to see what similar charms are currently selling for online - try ebay.com .  Mechanical charms are usually higher in value. Enjoy your charm !
