QuestionHello,
I have a large aquamarine ring with a beautifule white gold
filegree setting. I was very curious about what the markings on
the inside of the band mean CB 14K and then there is a hollow
cross. I know the 14k means fourteen karat gold and that's it.
There is a faint inscription but the middle is gone as I had the
ring resized many years ago so I could wear it - not that I do
often. I'm afraid I'll lose!
Thank you for your help.
AnswerHello Teresa ! Sounds like you have a beautiful ring ! You are correct about the 14K. The CB and cross could be the manufacturer, but I have been unable to locate that particular mark in my resources. The CB could also be the original owner. Many times initials were used on the inside of rings as well as short inscriptions. You don't say whether this was a family or purchased piece. Could the CB be a relative ? You might check your library for listings of jewelry manufacturers. It is possible you may run across the name. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but please enjoy your ring - wear it ! Jewelry was made to adorn and be seen !
