Broken Brisa Gel Nail Repair: Solutions When a Salon Isn't Available

Question
I am on vacation and one of my Brisa gels has broken off halfway down the nail. I am in a remote location and cannot find a salon that uses the Brisa gel to do the repair. I will not be back in town to my regular nail tech for over a week. Please advise!
Thank you!

Answer
Well, you've got a few options.  You can buff the remaining gel product off your nail with a 180 or greater abrasive (I'd recommend using a 240), and just keep nail strengthener on that one;  or you can look for someone who uses any of the professional gel lines other than Brisa and have them do a repair.  If you can't find any gel nail techs, you might consider having an acrylic repair.  Or even a fiberglass or silk wrap.  The very, very last resort is to glue the broken gel tip back on, but this is my least favorite solution, as it is much too easy to trap bacteria underneath.  If you find you HAVE to do it, however, make sure you thoroughly clean the nail plate with an alcohol wipe, and make sure it is bone dry.  Also use the alcohol wipe on the back of the broken piece.  Clean and dry are the keys here.

You won't have a perfect set of ten nails for the rest of your vacation, but it will be better than running around with a broken nail, won't it? :)

I hope you find this helpful!
