Silk Nail Wraps and Pain: Is It Normal?

Question
Yesterday I got my first silk nail wrap. I was wondering if it was normal to experience pain all over the nail beds, that evening and the next day. I was thinking maybe my nails just aren't used to the pressure. Can you help me and let me know if this is normal? If so what's something that can help ease the pain too? Thank you!

Answer
Ouch!  It sounds like you're experiencing a "nail headache", which happens when the enhancement shrinks as it cures. And wraps cure quickly, when the resin is activated with the spray. Do you have thin nail plates, or were your nails over-filed before the wraps were applied?  You would be particularly sensitive to this pressure.  The pain should go away after a day;  you can take an OTC pain reliever if it bothers you too much.

I'm assuming that you don't have any itchiness or redness around the nail plate area.  These would be signs of an allergic reaction, and you'd need to have the wraps removed.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask a follow up question if you have more concerns.
