QuestionHello, I hope you might be able to help me. I had UV gel nail extensions done about a week ago and yesterday I accidentally dropped a heavy box onto one of my nails. I cracked the gel straight across my nail and it would appear that I've also somehow cracked my natural nail bed because a bit of blood came out.
I washed it well with soap and water and used a hair dryer on a very low setting to try to dry out my nail well and remove all of the moisture from the water and applied a bit of nail glue over the crack to keep moisture seeping in as I know that moisture can damage the gel overlay.
However, it was throbbing all night last night and this morning while I am in less pain, there is now what looks like a bit of pus and blood seeping out of the crack. Not very nice, sorry...
The nail tech used NSI products on my nails and I don't know where to go from here. I've emailed her but since it's the week-end I don't expect her to get back to me until Monday and unfortunately I don't know her phone number. I'm not sure if I should try to remove the extension myself and whether the product is a soak-off or file-off and unfortunately since it's Sunday and I live in the UK, there are no salons around me that are open where I can have it looked at.
Any thoughts? I'm just wary of infections - while gel nails are pretty, I'd rather not have an infection!
Thanks so much for your help!
Samantha
AnswerSamantha,
Believe it or not this has happened to me twice. You need to go straight to the urgent care and have a doctor look at it! In my case They had to remove my entire nail plate and let a new nail grow back in about 6-8 weeks. Its not fun, but its better than getting a terrible infection. ANd you could permenently damage your nail if you dont get it fixed correctly.
So please Do not go to a manicurist go to a doctor. YOu can remove the rest of your Gels later or just leave them on and have a bandage on the one finger.
Good Luck,
Megan
