Understanding Post-Alcohol Soreness: Causes & Relief

Question
I am a 23yr. old female in good shape. I try to take good care of myself and am rarely sick. Over the last few months I have noticed a bothersome patern the mornings following a night out when I have been drinking alcohol (about once every other week). My body, primarily from my chest up will feel extremely sore to touch. The worst is always my chest and neck, but also my arms, shoulders, and even my face. It also seems to get worse as the day goes on and then it's gone the next day. I do feel that I have a pretty low tolerance to alcohol. I usually drink a mixed drink, 3 or 4 being my limit. I write this to you after having 2 drinks last night and going to bed early, and now not being able to receive a massage because of the soreness. What is the alcohol doing to me? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Does the achiness occur at other times, when there was no alcohol involved?  Since you have narrowed it down to the day after you drank, you have solved the problem.  It may be an alcohol withdrawal syndrome... next time make sure you drink plenty of regular liquids before you go to bed and see if that blocks these symptoms.

Hope this helps...
