QuestionRobert
I am finding that as I get older,I am unable to drink as much as I used to before becoming intoxicated.
I am in good health, recently passed a complete physical.I am not a big drinker but enjoy a beer or two on a hot day,or after exercising or playing sports.
Recently,I had to get a co-worker to take me home from the bar,as I felt I was becoming too intoxicated.I had had a large meal, and had consumed four or five glasses of beer.
I suppose its not a bad thing to not be able to drink, but in the past I could stay up all night and party with the best of them. One thing that may be different is that although I am older,I have been exercising more and quit smoking so I am actually fitter now than when I was a younger man.Your thoughts?
AnswerIt is very typical to afeel intoxicated with the same amt of alcohol as you get older. Also, if someone has abused alcohol, they build up a tolerance for a while, but then, when there is liver damage, they tend to get intoxicated and extremely low doses. I am not sure what applies to you, probably the general increased sensitivity to alcohol
hope this helps.....
