QuestionI am 24, with one child who is 24 months. My last menstrual period was Nov, 17th 2004.
Since July I have been having severe pain in my lower right side that begins the first day of my cycle every time and goes away a few days after my period is over. I went to my doctor who did and ultrasound and some ovarian cysts showed up.
She wanted to put me on birth control, but since I am ttc that wasn't an option for me. I took clomid with my last pregnancy because of a luteal phase defect which to my knowledge I still have since my periods are irregular.
This cycle day 14 i started to have some blood in my discharge once to twice a day for 3 days. It was kind of pink and red. I also have been experienceing some cramping and lower back pain off and on.
Today, day 19 I woke up to the familiar cyst pain on my right side but not near as severe as it is when I start. It is off and on. So far this is the first I have felt it between periods. And I have never spotted in the past or had cramping in the middle. I have had cramping about a week before i start in the past.
From what I have described can you tell me what could be going on or give me any advice?
Thank you in advance.
AnswerIf you had a sonogram that showed ovarian cysts, and you cojntinue to have pain on the right lower quadrant of your abdomen, it certainly could be due to the ovarian cysts. The slignt spotting you had around mid-cycle is probably ovulatory bleeding or "mid-cycle staining", which is common at the time of ovulation. If the sonogram showed cysts that were less than 5cm in diameter, you need not do anything. They will not interfere with your attempts at conception. Just keep trying. Take pain medicaiton such as Motrin, Advil, Tylenol, etc to control any discomfort. Good luck.
