QuestionI was diagnosed with endo at 21 and have had 4 laps. I am currently in severe pain after my last lap in October. My main problem is that I develop 1-3 cysts every month and they rupture causing intense pain. The endo pain is horrible anyway...but the added cysts make it almost impossible to deal with. Are cysts and endo related?
AnswerDear Becca
I am sorry to hear you are having so much discomfort. Thru the years with my horrible endo...I too had several surgeries due to cysts, fibroids, nodules, etc. My gyno always said that they were not related to endo...but I always thought the opposite. I think they are all related, especially in a woman that has severe endo. Endo itself is a scar tissue producer...and the constant pain and abnormal functioning throughout each month, I believe does produce these ailments.
And yes the pain is unbearable, your symptoms sound very severe. Because endo is a hormone driven disease, basically, I can't imagine that other issues wouldn't be related to it. But that is only my opinion.
I always thought that I knew my body pretty well as far as what to expect with endo...I used to anticipate each month and wait for the horrendous cramps and vomiting to start. And I am sure you can relate to the pain, it is nearly labor level type pain.
Do you see a specialist? Would you feel comfortable trying another gyno? There are hormones that have been developed to control cyst type growths...and endo symptoms.
Also, try the website at Endo Research Center, they can help with questions and possible gyno referrals.
I wish you the best of luck and hope you find relief. Take care of yourself.
