Nail Primer Allergy: Finding a Safe Alternative & Solutions

Question
I had gel nails on my nails for several months, without a problem. Then I changed salons. After a few visits to the new salon I developed an allegeric reaction to the get nails. I also tried acrylic nails with the same result. Me allergy was severe, I itched so bad that I wanted to cut my fingers off! I discovered that I was allergic to the primer. Is there a primer  on the market that I can purchase and take to the salon for use on my nails? I have done a lot of reading  and I have heard about protein based primer and acid based primer. I do not have allergic reactions to polish, pure acetone polish remover, cuticle removers etc. But when he applied the primer my cuticles exploded in pain and itch. I love gel  and acrylic nails, is there anything I can do?

Answer
Hola Stacy,
Yes, there are newer primers out there, but I would recommend that you ask your tech to get it for you.
I would be hesitant to use something I am not familiar with on a client if she brought it in. They may tell you that they will not guarantee that your nails will not lift.
I will tell you though that the newer primers, I do not call them protein, as I do not see what proteins are actually IN them, work better than the acid primers. My clients have NO lifting whatsoever!
Where you get your nails done-- do they understand your allergies? Would they be able to tell you what the problem is and how to alleviate it? Can they communicate with you?
What brand of gels and acrylic do they use?
When you get the gels, what do they actually do to apply it?
There is a possibility that you are not reacting to the primer and it could be a combination of what they use. Please let me know and I can help you further!
buenos dias,
Lynnette
