Lacquer Nails: A Scam? Understanding the Truth About This Nail Service

Question
I have recently had what the shop has called "Lacquer" nails which they claim are thinner and stronger and last longer than both acrylic and gel nails. I do not see anything about this type of nail, so am wondering if this company is "scamming" me and upcharging me $5-10 more for acrylic or something else.

Answer
Lori,
It is a scam. Do not get this. There is NO such thing as Lacquer Nails. You are probably seeing this at a chop shop. Run as far as you can from these places. They are using MMA and lying to the unsuspecting public. They also do not do gel nails. If they pull out a liquid and powder, this is MMA or acrylic. Gels are applied directly to the nail and cured under a UV light. They usually are thicker and most techs do not use a powder with them. It is a completely different application than the liquid and powder.
Do not get those so called Lacquer Nails. Lacquer is nothing more than polish.
buenos dias,
Lynnette
