Decoding Vintage Ring Markings: Identification & Value

Question
I purchased a ring from an antique store. It appears to be an alexandrite, though it is probably synthetic. The thing that stumps me, however, is that the ring has three markings on the inside: two squiggly, vertical lines with another squiggly horizontal line above them, a bird (the entire body- a crow, I think), and a sycle. Could it possibly be Russian, and if so, a natural alexandrite? What do the markings mean? It is set in gold, but I don't know what karat. Also, the setting is shaped somewhat like a crown. Thanks for your assistance.

Answer
Hi Kelly
It sounds like it could be Russian. Remember Russian Scientists are famous for synthetics.
Don't assume that being Old and Russian qualifies it to be Natural.
