Understanding Hallmarks on Platinum Rings: What Does '950' and '1.5' Mean?

I am interested in a ring that is hallmarked:  1.5   950
That's all that is on the band. What do the numbers stand for?

The 950 stands for platinum and the 1.5 usualy stands for carat weight.
Be sure to have the ring checked by a gemologist before spending any sum of money.
