Antique Silver Ring Appraisal: Age, Value & Identification
QuestionI am trying to find the age and value of a ring I found with metal detector few yrs back. The ring has a clear round setting with a floral design on one side of stone and a bird image I think on the other. The disigns look to be made of flat silver and attached to the ring. The ring has some whear and looks imperfect in its manufacture. I have reason to believe its old even though it has 925 stamped inside of it. It also has markings along bottom of setting. It was found in yard of a home that was built in 1860. Could you please give me an idea of how old and if it has a value other than its silver weight?
AnswerHi Denim, No way of mee telling the age without seeing the ring and its markings. Your best bet is to take it to a good appraiser of silver items and have them give you an idea of its worth for insurance replacement value. Sounds interesting though.
