Understanding Gold Hallmarks: What Does 'ODU' Mean?
QuestionQUESTION: I recently bought a ring on eBay. The hallmark is 14kodu. What does ODU mean? I want to make sure it's a genuine 14k ring.
ANSWER: Hi Margaret,
The 14k stamp signifies it is a gold 14k ring. The ODU is the manufacturers halmark. I am not farmiliar with this stamp but you could find out at the local library. The only way to confirm the gold content is to test the gold ring. Today most gold buyers are equipped to test gold. Good luck.

QUESTION: How can you tell if a Tiffany Somerset ring is authentic? The ring in question has 11 rows and straight sides It's marked T&Co 925. A similar ring on the Tiffany website has 12 rows (I think) and curved sides. Same mark. When was the Somerset Collection designed?
Thanks.
AnswerHi Again Margaret,
The stamp "T&Co 925" means it is sterling silver & usually designates the piece as a Tiffany. Usually the stamp is enough to authenticate the piece. The fact that the number of stones or rows is different does not mean it isn't a Tiffany, it may just be a variant in the mfg. I am not versed on the collections of Tiffany, you should ask them about those type of questions. Thanks
