QuestionI purchased a ring at an estate sale. It is marked "<RP 10K" inside the band. What does that mean? Thanks, Kari
AnswerKari, I do appreciate the question but as stated in the box just above the "question box", I mention that I do not research makers marks. You see, I tried to do that once. It is a rabbit trail, me trying to follow a rabbit down a trail the rabbit knows, stumbling through the bushes and brambles and then the rabbit vanishes into the briar patch. That is almost a fruitless attempt with the many jewelry makers active today and with so much being oursourced and imported.
Essentially, the two marks show the makers mark and the quality mark, as required by law in the USA. If the quality mark (10k) is there, the makers mark must be also stamped closely by.
I say you have a 10k ring but cannot attempt to identify the maker.
Thanks and I hope this helps a bit.
