Identifying 14K Gold Maker's Marks: Understanding Modern Hallmarks

I have a 14k gold post pierced earring and there is a mark to the left of the 14K that looks like a lazy s (an "S" on its side).  There is also another little mark in the 2nd hump of the S, if that makes sense.  Do you have any idea what this is?  I don't think it's vintage but rather newer.  Thanks for any help you can give me.  Incidentally, although I can find websites for vintage jewelry marks, I cannot find a website for modern jewelry maker's marks.  Any idea about that as well?  Thanks for your time. Hello Deborah and thank you for your inquiry. I've checked my resources for a mark like you describe with no luck. I don't have a listing for many of the newer/contemporary markings. Below is a site with costume and some fine and contamporary jewelry marks where you may be able to compare the mark on your earrings.
