Repairing a Sentimental Ring with Loose Stones: Options & Considerations

Question
I was given a ring by a friend that passed away a few years ago.It had never been worn prior to me receiving it,but I had to stop wearing it after a year or so because the stones seemed loose in the settings and two of them fell out.I have brought the ring to several jeweler shop and have been told that it is a "fancy" cut and that it would be very expensive to have them replaced. They all suggested I send it to the manufacturer, but the only paperwork I received with the ring was an appraisal sheet from AIG and they couldn't tell me anything.Do you have any suggestions?Thank you for your time!

Answer
Hi Samantha,

Try and find a jeweler that can get stones cut to size or find a lapidary that can do it for you. The alternative is to have a manufacturer do it for you in Thailand or Hong Kong. There are plenty of people who can do it. Look on the internet for custom lapidary and jewelry manufacturers. Thanks for asking and good luck.
