QuestionI heard that diamonds are 9 in hardness, diamonique, an 8, and another variety
altogether (?) an 8.5. What is it called? Mossa...? something?
AnswerHi cynthia,
Actually, diamonds are 10 on the moh scale. Ruby is 9 but the space between 9 and 10 is greater than one. Moissanite
is a new synthetic that is supposed to be harder than 9 but I have cut and polished them and I do not agree. They are probably 9 in hardness. It is a tungsten carbide crystal.
