QuestionI just bought a ring at garage sale for $ 1. It is marked inside 14K and on oposite side (inside as well) STS. What STS stands for? Is it 14K gold?
AnswerJanina, if the mark is honest, then you have a 14k gold ring, for $1. : ) The STS means nothing as far as the metal quality is concerned. The STS is likely a makers mark.
There is an outside possibility that STS is supposed to mean Sterling Silver but this is not one of the federally accepted marks. Then again, why the 14k mark? I suspect the ring is 14k but to be totally cetain you should have it tested by a jeweler. Call first to be sure they do this testing.
