Is Your QVC 14K Gold Fake? Identifying Eternal Gold Scams
QuestionI have some pieces of 14K gold that I purchased from QVC in the last few years. I think they may be the Eternal Gold they sell. They are marked 14k on each piece. I took them today to sell to a reputable dealer I have known for years, they are not gold, they all failed the magnet and acid test. According to the site for this Eterna gold it is made differently. Are you familiar with this gold product, I am just devastated, I paid alot of money for these pieces. Thank you for responding.
AnswerHi Linda, I've personally have not owned nor inspected an Eterna Gold piece but I have read quite a couple of complaints online similar to yours. Bottom line is that, if a piece is marked 14k, it should have a millesimal fineness of 585 (around 59% gold) which is equivalent to 14 carats. If it doesn't pass the test, then it doesn't have gold in it or has lower than 59% gold content.
Hope this helps!
