Identifying Marks on Small Silver Box: A Detailed Guide

Question

small silver box
i bought a small silver box that has a faint mark in an extended oval that is so worn i haven't a clue what it could be other than the fact that no other mark is an obvious silver mark..so i'm assuming this could be it..this is what i get for assuming..as the other mark appears to be a horses head facing to the right with either a number or letter running sort of parallel..along side of and at roughly the same angle as it's snout..i swear i have seen this mark before..and i was thinking it could have been russian..any ideas??..the poorly struck and also worn mark is on a completely different plane of the box..oh..the horse's head mark is inside a sort of extended hexagon shape..like terminating to a point the short side of a rectangle..definitely angular..not curves as in an oval....any input would be appreciated..and if you had the time..sending an email would be fabulous..as i might not remember this for months...i'm half asleep.it's 3 a.m....i've never considered myself an expert..but i really do have a lot of knowledge regarding purity marks of metals..and have a circle of associates that make up a living library on watches and antiques in general..surprising how some days it seems you've answered everyones questions marvelously..and they are so impressed..and on another day..you don't seem to know a damn thing..all you've said all day is.."hmm..i'm just not sure"....any and all input appreciated..thank you
steve

Answer
Hello Steve and thank you for your inquiry. It is difficult for me to give you much information on this without a "hands on" inspection, however I have listed a site below that has world hallmarks pictured and you may be able to match up your hallmark with something there. It does seem like maybe Russian or Czech but since you have a visual, it may be easier to match. This is a great site and I use it often. Just copy and paste the url into your browser address field and hit enter:
