QuestionHello
I have a sterling silver Rotary watch which is
hallmarked on the back of the face. The strap looks like it
could be silver too but has no hallmarks.
Would the stamp on the back of the face refer to the whole
watch or would the strap be hallmarked seperately if it was
silver?
Many Thanks
Sarah
AnswerHello Sarah,
Without examining it my best guess is that the hallmark is for both the watch and band particularly if you suspect the band is the original one to the watch. Perhaps look at some other rotarians watches and compare their similarities or gross differences..Also check on the clasp mechanism:most straps or watchbands that have bayonet type clasps (one side slides into the other and locks securely) have makers marks, fineneess marks, or hallmarks on the clasp as well as on the back of the case.
Hope this helps,best regards, Ari
