Concerned About Husband's Drug Use: Seeking Guidance
QuestionI have been married 17 years. My husband runs his own business and is under constant high stress. Since we met he has smoked pot. I am fearful our young 14 year old son will detect the odor and ask questions. Today I found cocaine in my husband's suitcase. He doesn't know that I found it. I don't know how to confront my husband about the cocaine. Our son could easily have found it. I have no idea how long how this as been going on. I fear that my husband will say it is something new and he is trying it to stay awake at night to work. Do you have any advice on how I should approach the discussion with him?
AnswerYou can save your son, yourself and your husband; but you must be fearless.
Take whatever you found and hide it.
Tell your husband that he has 1 hour to register into a professional treatment program or you call the police and ask him to leave. His position as a role model to your son must be immediately restored.
This is a serious business. There is no room for a gray area.
