Ciprofloxacin & Dexamethasone Use in Early Pregnancy: Potential Effects

hello doctor, one of my relaive who recently married and pregnanted. now the foetus is 6 wks old. recently she had ciprofloxacin and dexamethasone. now i want to know that whats the effect of these drugs in foetal develpment.

Ciprofloxin is used for urinary tract infections and is safe for use during pregnancy. Dexamethasone is a steroid and we do use it for different reasons during pregnancy. There is a 1% risk of cleft palate in the baby with the use of steroids during pregnancy, but since this can be easily corrected surgically, with no residual effects, we do not hesitate to use steroids for asthmatic reactions etc.
