QuestionI am 24 years old, no children, first pregnancy, Januray 13 was the first day of my last period.
I have been to the doctor twice for blood tests and they have comfirmed that I am pregnant - around 6 weeks along. Last night I began bleeding - it started light pink and 'watery' and quickly turned to a bright red color. It only lasted for 45 mins or so and was very very light overnight. I don't have a fever, little cramping - not much at all, but I am very concerned. I called my doctor and she said to take thinkgs easy for a couple of days, but I am so worried that I will lose the baby. What are the chances that I can still have a normal pregnancy and birth?
Any help would be much appreciated!
Nicole
AnswerMiscarriages occur in 15-20% of every pregnancy. Usually, a small amount of spotting or staining is common during early pregnancy and will not cause miscarriage. However, if you have heavy vaginal bleeding with cramps, you should get a sonogram to make sure that the fetus continues to have a good fetal hearttbeat and is adequately growing. If the sonogram shows a fetus and a fetal heartbeat, the baby should do fine.
