Early Pregnancy Signs & Symptoms: What to Watch For

Question
Hi...I have had three m/c.  I am 30 years old.  My last m/c ended with a D&C on 12/28.  I then had a period on 1/23.  I am a 26 day cycle so I do not anticipate my period until Sat, 2/18.  Here is my question...unlike any of my other pregnancies, I suddenly have terrible acne and for the last 3 days I didn't feel well in the am. (I had no physical symptoms with any other pregnancies!) Yesterday afternooon, 2/13, I took a pregnancy test with my sisters coaching and it was positive.  It was a "first response."  I was SHOCKED that it even detected my pregnancy being so far from my anticipated period and being that I had urinated several times prior to testing.  I know you have no crystal ball...but has early detection and early symptoms (including my teenage skin...aaargh) ever indicated twins?  Twins run in the family, but distant family.

-Shocked by early symptoms and early detection!

Answer
If your last period started on January 23, and you have a 26 day cycle (from the first day of your period untii the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #12. YOu can only conceive if you have sex on cycle day #11,12,13, or 14. (February 2,3,4, or 5). If you did become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test would not be accurate until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your next period. You were due for your next period on February 17. Therefore, the best time to take a pregnancy test will be after February 24. I can't tell if the pregnancy test you took on February 13 was accurate or not. If you have any doubts, take a blood test for pregnancy and you will know for sure.
