Irregular Periods After Starting Birth Control: What to Expect

Question
I just started taking Errin (the generic for Ortho Micronor) again after being off of it for 6 months. I originally started taking it 6 weeks after having my last child (who is now 19 months old). I am still nursing occasionally. During the first time I took it I never got my period. Once I went off of it, I started to get it again. I am wondering if it is possible that I won't get my peiod again since going back on it? Thank you for your speedy response.

Answer
Hi Michelle,

I apologize for not replying sooner but I am in the hospital,  I had to have an emergency c section on june 6th to deliver the surrogate baby I was carrying.

I think your missed period before may have been due to breastfeeding.

Not sure of all the side affects of this pill, but I would read the information that it comes with and ask your doctor or whoever prescribed the pills for you. I dont know of any pill that totally eliminates a period, other than the seasonale which makes you get it 4 times a year.

So I would guess if this is a regular type of birth control pill, with placebo weeks, you shoudl get a period.

I hope this helps you.
