QuestionI am 22, never been pregnant. I have been on a 28 day cycle pill for a couple of years, but just switched to seasonale. My last period was in october. My question is about my new pills and if i could be pregnant. I was on antibiotics for 10 days and had unprotected sex with my partner right after going off the meds, forgeting that my pills could be ineffective. that was on Dec. 15. The next day, and continuing till now, i have had a slight discharge everyday, either brownish, or more like a period, but never heavy. I have cramps once in a while and am bloated. What is going on? What does all the bleeding mean?
Thank you
AnswerThe discharge, cramps, and bloating are not signs or symptoms of pregnancy. When was the first day of your last period? If you are on the pills, it is highly unlikely that you could have conceived (even if you had not been on the pills for a full two weeks). Most antibiotics will not cause the pills to be ineffective. However, if you have any doubts, and you believe that you may have conceived on December 15, take a pregnancy test now. Pregnancy tests are accurate 14-21 days after the suspected date of conception. However, I doubt that you are pregnant. Seasonale may cause irregular spotting at various times of the month throughout its use. It sounds great to avoid having a period for 3 months at time, but the kinks are not out of the pill and there is an increase of breakthrough bleeding with its use.
