Late Period After Pillless Intercourse: What to Expect
QuestionI had my last period on Sept 27, 2006 and ended on Oct 1 and stopped using the pill on Sept 30th. I had unprotected sex w/ my boyfriend on Oct 6. Since then we have used condoms. I'm concerned with getting pregnant from having unprotected sex on the 6th. It's now Oct 20, and I have not got my next period yet. I have went off the "pill" in the past & I usually got my period a month after stopping the pill. I have read that you can get your period right after stopping the pill. I don't believe that is true for me. I'm just really nervous!! I am having some cramps right now and I expect my period by next week. Should I worry? I will be going back on the pill next month, if I'm not pregnant! I'm really scared! I'm not ready for pregnancy!! Please help!!
Thank you
AnswerHi Jennifer,
It's possible that you could be pregnant. Any time you have unprotected sex or even with birth control, it's a possibility. No method is 100% effective. Condoms are not even as effective as the pill. You might want to find a free pregnancy center in your area and get a test to make sure. http://www.optionline.org They can also advise you when would be the best time to do the test to get correct results. Try not to worry (which is hard to do) but if you get stressed that can make you not have your period. Please let me know what happened and you can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know. I'm not a medical doctor so please consult your physician to ask about this matter.
