Delayed Period After Pill: What to Expect & When to Worry

Question
I have been off the pill for 8 weeks and have yet to get my period. I have been through 2 cycles of cervical mucus changes...is this common to a) not get your period after the pill, and b) to have mucus changes even though not getting a period?

Answer
If you have stopped the pill 8 weeks ago, you could possibly have ovualted and thus have gone through cervical mucus changes. Often you will not bleed for several months after stopping the pill. If you do not get your period by September, I would suggest that you ask your gynecologist to "induce" your period for you using Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days and you should get your period within 10 days after that.
