Post-Pill Period Issues: Estrogen Dominance & Progesterone - Expert Advice
QuestionHi, not sure if you'll be able to answer but question about birth control. I went off 4 months ago (orthotricyclen) and still haven't had a period. Does coming off the pill cause estrogen dominance and low progesterone? I feel like I keep having PMS symptoms (whicj I read can be a symp;tom of high estrogen) but my period just won't start. I'm not pregnant. Can stopping the pill leave your progesterone levels low? Should I try a progesterone test to jumpstart my period? Thanks in advance!!
AnswerSometimes we need to "jump start" our cycles back. It is possible that is all you need. If you have not already done one, do a home pregnancy test to ensure you are not pregnant. Your doctor can prescribe some medication such as Provera to bring on a period. Hopefully this is all that you will need. Your doctor will most likely do some blood work to rule out a number of things, so it is a good idea to go see your doctor. Good luck to you!
