QuestionI just recently had an emergency c-section that resulted in the loss of the baby, in June. I have been on the bcp since then my dr said I should wait 9-12 months before we try again. But my period was 5 days late this month and when I finally started yesterday it is very light, not even enough for a pantyliner. I took a hpt, it was negative. Do you think I could be pregnant
AnswerSince you've been on bcp, and had a negative hpt, you should assume that you are not pregnant.
I want to express my deepest sympathies with the loss of your baby. During my first pregnancy (twins) I needed an emergency "C" to save my own life, due to severe, acute, pre-eclampsia. So I know the depth of your loss.
Doctors recommend waiting 9 to 12 months before conception so that you and your partner can make significant strides in the healing process from such a devastating loss. I know that during my second pregnancy, I was much more concerned about everything, and that in hindsight, I'm glad that we waited for a year before becoming pregnant again.
