Second Pregnancy After Perinatal Loss: Considerations & Timing

Question
I just delivered my first born with occipital meningocele 4 weeks ago. The baby died 5 days after birth. My husband and I are very eager to have a baby, and planning to have another ASAP. Is it advisable to conceive as this early considering the anomalies encountered during my first birth? What are there to consider before getting pregnant again?

Answer
You may want to wait at least 2 cycles for your body to heal and get back to normal before attempting to conceive again. I recommend speaking to your doctor and having everything checked out before attempting to conceive. In addition, your doctor may be able to give you some insight into how your body is doing now.

I am so very sorry for your loss. =(  Please let me know if I can help you further or with anything else.

Best wishes,
Helen =)
