AnswerDear Betty,
Unfortunately, the symptoms you describe (and pretty much all early pregnancy symptoms) are hormonal in nature and can also be related to hormone fluctuations within your cycle. That is why it so difficult to "diagnose" a pregnancy based on symptoms alone.
I can give you some symptoms that are often related to early pregnancy, but keep in mind that they are hormonal and don't necessarily mean that you are actually pregnant - especially if your menstrual cycles are acting up and hormones may be a bit imbalanced. Some typical symptoms related to early pregnancy would be:
- Delayed or missed menstruation (the most common pregnancy symptom)
- Swollen or tender breasts
- Fatigue/Tiredness
- Nausea or morning sickness
- Headaches
- Lower backaches
- Darkening of areolas
- More frequent urination (usually not until about 6 weeks along)
- Food Cravings
The antibiotic and/or the infection could have altered your menstrual cycles, so it would be advisable to test again in another 7-10 days. But I would suggest that you continue trying to conceive in the meantime - just in case. :-)
I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
Brenda
