Late Period After IUD: Possible Pregnancy or Other Causes?

Question
Hi Brie,
Thank you for your time in reading & responding to my question. I am dealing with some weird stuff and am hoping your expertise might help me. I am married with 2 other children and understand what it feels like to be pregnant.  That being said.. this is what I'm dealing with.

My last period was May 17th (last month). I was due to start my period on June 16th. My cycles usually last around 29 days (although that varies). I am now 11 days late. I had an IUD in and was quite worried, so I made an appt yesterday at my ob/gyn. She took the IUD out because of the risks I've read about regarding an IUD and my hubby wasn't pleased with that. So I had her take out the IUD (also, incase of pregnancy). She did an Ultrasound and a blood test. All came back negative. My blood test was <1 the nurse said.

However, I am experiencing extreme fatigue, very thirsty, hot/cold flashes, frequent urination, clear cervical mucous, food aversions & cravings, my breasts feel fuller & the areolas are darker and bumpy. They aren't sore yet though.

A tad bit yesterday & today I've had some blood tinged mucous (very slight). I'm wondering.. is there any way that I could still be pregnant and it's just not showing up yet?? I feel pregnant! Plus, I've never missed a period EVER before except for my earlier pregnancies.

She also checked my TSH which came back normal. They had no explanation as to why my body is doing all of this, but I want more answers than that! lol

Any thoughts you can give are much appreciated! Thank you!!

Answer
When a woman misses a period, it generally means either that she's pregnant or that she didn't ovulate, since ovulation brings on a period 2 weeks later.  I don't think there is any significant chance that you're pregnant, so that means that you didn't ovulate this month.  When a woman doesn't ovulate, she will often feel all the symptoms of pregnancy.  This is because the ovaries keep getting stimulated, and this raises her estrogen level, which causes the symptoms.  Not ovulating is common, often due to stress, which can also cause many of your symptoms.  It will often take care of itself with time.  The spotting is also common after not ovulating.  If you wish to become pregnant, I'd see your doctor to figure out why you didn't ovulate.  Otherwise I'd stay healthy and give it some time.
