Endometriosis & Pregnancy: A Concerned Mother's Questions

Question
Hi- I just found out I was 2 months pregnant and I am excited as can be. However I am concerned with some of the medical conditions I have faced. I had endo when I was 16 and I had a procedure to remove it. I also have very bad arthrithis and IBS. I recently have been on 3 meds for my arthritis and just had a colonscopy on Sept. 27th. I was under anesthia and am very concerned that I may have hurt my baby. I am so excited because I was told that I may not be able to conceive. I do have some cramping in my abdominal but no blood. I have my first ultrasound next friday. Should I be worried about anything and what questions should I ask my doctor?

Answer
Well congratulations! I am thrilled for you! Yes, us endo women can have a hard time conceiving...thats for sure!
I won't worry about any of the above...but just as you stated it all to me, also tell your doctor about it all.

Usually, women with endo actually feel temporary relief after having a baby as it sort "cleans out the plumbing", so to speak! I am sure the cramping is just your body adjusting to the baby and hormonal changes, endo women have such funky imbalanced hormones anyway, hard to tell!

Your doctor will also tell you what meds you'll be able to continue taking. Babies are basically resilient and can survive well against all odds!

Best of luck to you and again congrats!!

Take care of yourself!
