Lower Right Pelvic Pain & Endometriosis: Understanding Symptoms & Diagnosis

Question
About 3 months ago I started getting pains in my lower right pelvic area. The pains lasted only seconds and happened every day at no specific time. I went to a gyno who told me I had a cyst that ruptured on my right ovary and had some fluid left that would go away on its own. She wanted me to come back for another ultrasound to check the lining of my uterus because she thought it looked thick. I went back and all was well with my uterus but the us technician said I had a few cysts on my right and left ovaries. My gyno told me to wait 3 to 5 months to see if the pain left and if not we would discuss laparoscopy. I didnt want to wait that long so I went to a different dr who wanted to do the lap. to check for endo. I don;t feel like I have the symptoms for endo but am not sure. I have had lower and upper abdominal pain, pulling/twisting pains in the pelvic area, lower to mid back pain when siiting. My pain sometimes eases right before my period and during it. Does this sound like endo?

Answer
Hi Mary,

First off, a lot of women suffer with Endo in different ways. When, where and how much pain can be different for each woman. Also, many women with Endo also suffer from cysts. Having this checked out with a Lap is the best thing you can do.

Your other doctor didn't do anything wrong by telling you to wait a few months and see if the pain goes away. He/she is just taking the "Wait and see" approach. Many doctors will do that. I prefer being proactive about diagnosing Endo. Go through with the Lap and find out if you have Endo or not.

Just remember that if you are in pain, something is wrong. Don't stop until you find some answers.

Please let me know how your Lap goes.

Sincerely,

Angie
