QuestionHelp! I got my nails for the first time ever last week and I want them off now. They are too long (I tired telling her to make them shorter) and they are just uncomfortable since they hinder my typing. After reading several Q&A's I am confident that I was scammed and did NOT receive gel nails...more like the acrylics with gel coating. How do I safely remove these nails at home? I'd like to avoid salons, if I could, since this experience has left a very sour taste in my mouth.
AnswerWell, first of all let me tell you not all salons are like that. If fact, your tech should of filled out a client consultation card asking you if you have any hobbies and a job that involves your nails, in this case, where you type, she should have been the first person to discourage long nails to start with.
I must tell you i also seriously discourage you to have this nails removed at home. Even thow you are quite sure there are acrylic nail with a gel top coat, gel can not be removed with acetone, it can only be filled of. Acrylic can be filled of, but i fear that you can have had MMA applied, which is a very hard acrylic, that should never be applied on nails, and this stuff takes forever to soak in acetone, so again a professional removal is best. Also if there were any damage on your nails done during the full set placement i would fell more comfortable if you have a tech taking care of them.
I would advise you to go to a good professional, not a discount salon, look for certificates, brands, portfolios, ask them questions at your will, a good professional should feel at ease answering them.
Hope i could help.
