Why Are My Gel Nails Lifting After Childbirth? - Nail Care Advice
QuestionI have had my nails done with biosculpture gel for 6 years with no problems at all. 8 weeks ago i gave birth to my daughter and since then my nails keep lifting off. They literally come off in one piece. I have tried ibd and opi gel colour but nothing lasts more than a few days. I love having my nails done and don't know what to try next. Can i just assume that this is hormone related & my nails will settle down at some point?
AnswerHi Sally
I understand that you have started lifting problems after giving birth to your daughter, hormones do play a large part with nail enhancement adhesion although there may also be other issues thyroid imbalance can also cause lifting, medications, stress, and diet can also cause lifting. Poor prep and since you are using gel, bulbs do come into play as the weaker they are the curing process becomes weaker. These are just some of the things that can cause product to lift, I would try and rule each of these out and see what you have left and that should give you an idea as to why they are lifting. If it is hormones and if you are breast feeding it may be a while before they balance out. If that may be the case I would opt to have no product on and care for you natural nails with cuticle oil and regular manicures which will get your nails in shape so when you put product back on them they will be in the best shape to accept product.
I hope this helps and you can go back to wearing your gel enhancements soon.
