Questionrecently I went to a salon to have my 'bio gel' nails removed. I suspected the salon was damaging my nails, as I could see through and there were course red marks from electric filing. The salon that tried to remove them with a special liquid specifically for bio gel removal said it must have been powder based as they didn't come off. They had to peel them off, quite painful. My nails are so damaged where the gels were I wonder what they used? I didn't see any powder, only gel and uv light. Any advice
AnswerDear kay,
First of all, MANY salons claim to be applying "Bio Gel" when it most certainly is NOT.
Those red marks are "rings of fire" from the improper use of the electric file which A) should never hurt and B) should never touch the natural nail.
They ahve caused you nail damage.
Also, Whoever peeled them off shouldn't be doing nails. Change technicians. That caused FURTHER damage to nails that had already been traumatized.
And, REAL Uv Gel NEVER contains powder. Acrylic has powder and uv gel doesnt'. It's a 'gel' as the name implies, similar in viscosity to hair gel.
Please see this page on my site to learn about this:

Most UV Gels must be filed off to the thinnest layer, and the rest left to grow out. There are perhaps only 3 on the market that can be soaked off, "real" Bio gel being one of them (which does NOT have any powder).
I hope this helps
best regards
