Gel Nail Damage: Causes, Prevention & Repair

Question
After 5 years of being a mother I took an afternoon and had a mom day while my children were in school and had what they called "gel nail." I went back one week after having them applied because they looked rough around the edges and they filed them and filled them in. I went back the next week and had them taken off. They filed them and then sooaked them in a solution. When I left my nails were so brittle and thin that I had to cut them down and they have tears all over them and little red spots. You can see how much they actually removed my natural nail. How can I build my real nails back up and restore them to health again? Please Help!

Answer
hi dana
im so sorry that u have had a bad experience with your nail treatment.
unfortunately there are as many inexperienced nail techs out there as experienced ones :(
the best thing to help your nails right now strange thou it may sound, it another overlay of gel.
it is important that you do your homework and ask around the ladies that you know have regular manicures.
there are good techs and word of mouth is much more reliable.
without seeing just how damaged they are, it is difficult to know whether they can cope with another overlay.
a good nail tech will examine them to find out.
the trouble is, now they are thin they are vulnerable to water etc.
if they can cope with another overlay of product by a better nail tech, this will allow the damage to grow out, and then you can make a decision on where to go from there.
good luck, let me know how u get on.
