Diamond Nails: First Impressions & Durability Concerns

Question
Less than 10 hours I had a set of diamond nails applied. Which is equivalent to your 'dips' Im sure. A tip is applied, a clear liquid painted over it and dipped in a fine powder. well, normally...I have regular acrylics applied, but they dull so quickly so I thought Id try these because of the lack of needing to be painted, just buffed to a shine. Already, the corner of my left nail have chipped off. I havent done anything today other than relax, Id like to go back and complain...But Ive been going to this salon for over ten years and appearance wise...The nails look great. Could this be something Ive done wrong or should i have them fix it? Thanks!

Answer
Dear Sivan,

Dips are not as strong as Acrylics or UV Gels.  Acrylics can have a permanent shine if a uv gloss is applied over them.  Uv Gels always have a permanent shine.
Neither of the 3 ever need to be painted, dependant upon how they are aplied.

Often we crack/chip a nail without realizing we had already weaked it doing something else, and then 'ping', it just "pops off" unexpectedly.
REgretably, without seeing the nails themselves, I can't judge if it's the workmanship or just regular day-to-day stuff that caused it to chip.  I'm sorry I can't help.

Please see this page to learn more about Acrylics and how to chooose a good technician and perhaps it might help:
