Artificial Nails: Removal & Care - What You Need to Know

Question
Is it necessary to remove those nails after one week?  If so, why?

Answer
Hi Geneva,
It depends on what type of enhancement you are wearing. If you have acrylic, gel or fiberglass wraps, then no. But if you are wearing "party nails"(a set of temporary tips with glue), then the answer may be yes. Are your nails coming loose from the product? Because if it is, then I would at the very least have them repaired. You do not want water, food, etc. to get between the product and the natural nail. If you want to take them off, be sure to have them removed carefully by a professional and that the technician does not try to use a tip or a metal tool to loosen them from your natural nail. This can be incredibly damaging to your own nail and painful as well. A good tech will soak them in acetone and gently scrape or file the top of the enhancement until all of the product is gone.

Hope this has fully answered your question, but if not, please let me know.
