Recurring Toenail Loss: Causes, Symptoms & When to See a Doctor

Question
hello! my question is: about a month and a half ago i noticed one of my toenails on my right foot fell off. i just figured i stubbed it on something and didnt pay any attention to it. another nail grew back. about 2 weeks ago i had the same nail on my left foot fall off. i didnt hurt or even have discoloration. just two nights ago i had another nail fall off on my left foot. im not understanding what is going on. it isnt painful or anything.

Answer
My first question to you would be: Are you a runner?  Are you some other kind of athlete?  Have you started an exercise program of some kind or started wearing different shoes?
Sometimes when a toe nail (seemingly) falls off at random like that it can be because of impact trauma.  It is not uncommon for runners and other athletes to loose toe nails.  If this scenario doesn't fit, then you should see a doctor because there are other medical concerns that may need to be addressed.  (I would probably see a doctor anyway to rule out different things like poor circulation, diabetes, etc.)Hope this helps.
