Big Toenail Removal & Vacation Protection: Expert Advice

Hi, I mashed my big toe, my toenail turned black and then finally it fell off leaving about a 1/4 inch of new toenail growth.  Well, in about 2 weeks I will be going on vacation and plan on wearing sandals.  What can I do to cover this problem?  I am considering using the Kiss Full Cover Toenails that are glue-on (glue being applied to the nail only), would there be any threat of toenail fungus if it gets wet under the fake nail?  Do you have any suggestions?

Sandy, Thank you for visiting AllExperts.  Sorry for you accident!  There isn't really much you can do.  If you use the Kiss product and want to make sure to avoid toenail fungus, make sure you wash it with warm antibacterial soap, rinse and then rinse again with hydrogen peroxide daily. After cleansing and rinsing with the hydrogen peroxide, use a blow dryer to ensure all moisture has been removed.  I am not a doctor, so do check with your doctor to make sure using hydrogen peroxide is okay.  If you are diabetic, do nothing and leave the nail in it's current state.  Hope this helps!  Enjoy your vacation!!
